11 new COVID cases, 27 recoveries in St. Albert on Thursday

Recoveries climbed from 1,564 to 1,591.

In the past day, St. Albert has seen 11 new cases of COVID-19 while another 27 people have recovered from the virus. 

On Thursday, the province released new data showing active cases in the city dropping from 193 on Wednesday to 177 on Thursday. This is the lowest active case count the city has seen since Nov. 21. 

New cases of COVID-19 climbed from 1,785 to 1,796. 

Recoveries climbed from 1,564 to 1,591. 

In Sturgeon County, there are currently 40 active cases with 507 people having recovered since the beginning of the pandemic. Two new people were diagnosed in the past 24 hours and two more people recovered.

Morinville currently has 30 active cases with 308 people having recovered since the beginning of the pandemic. Four new people were diagnosed in the past 24 hours and three more people recovered.

On Thursday, the province reported 967 new cases of COVID-19 with 16,219 tests run in the past 24 hours, for a provincial positivity rate of 5.8 per cent. 

Currently there are 806 Albertans in the hospital with COVID-19 and 136 of them in the ICU. 

The deaths of 21 more Albertans were reported Thursday, bringing the total amount of Albertans who have died from the virus so far to 1,389.

Some 21 Albertans lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total death toll to 1,389. 

A total of 66,953 doses of vaccine had been administered by the end of the day on Wednesday.
