Morinville RCMP are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man who they say jumped from a moving limousine. He died from his injuries while on scene.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Thursday, while the limousine was heading southbound towards Edmonton on Highway 28 from Gibbons. The young man was travelling in the limousine with a group of friends.

Police say their initial investigation shows that drugs and alcohol were a factor in the incident. Impaired driving is not believed to have played a role. The RCMP continues its investigation.

“Tragedies such as these remind us all of the part alcohol plays in traffic-related deaths and injuries,” said Morinville RCMP detachment commander Riz Suleman. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family.”
