A Bellerose graduate died last weekend in Mexico after falling from a balcony at a resort, Edmonton media are reporting.

Reports state that Chris Rogers, 21, fell from a balcony at a Cancun resort. Exactly how he fell from the balcony is unclear. One report stated he was involved in a fight in the hotel bar, then fell off a second-floor balcony, apparently while hallucinating. Another said he fell after being punched during a fight.

Rogers, who was attending the University of Alberta, graduated from Bellerose Composite High School in 2009.

A Facebook page, “In Memory of Chris Rogers,” sprung up Wednesday morning.

“Chris was and always will be a fine example of a man, a student, a son, a nephew a cousin, most of all a friend and everything in between,” reads one post.

George Mentz, who was the principle at Bellerose when Rogers was a student, said he remembered Rogers as a good student who was never in the office for any “negative reason.”

“He really worked hard at school. He put a lot of effort into (his school work).”

Mentz remembered Rogers was also well liked by many people.

“He'd have his circle of friends and they'd be chatting and laughing.

“He was a really nice kid.”
