Bill 50 has everything to do with landowners

The Ed Stelmach government’s claim that Bill 50 is not a landowner issue is ridiculous and insulting to all Albertans. It’s like the tobacco lobby stating that smoking is not a cancer issue.

It’s like the tobacco lobby stating that smoking is not a cancer issue. Bill 50 gave cabinet the power to approve multi-billion dollar powerline mega-projects throughout our province, without having to prove that they are needed.

Unless Stelmach and his cabinet have figured a way to hang powerlines from the clouds, they will require land. And that land on which the powerlines will be located is currently owned by thousands of Albertans. The only thing more ridiculous is why this legislation is not repealed.

The silence of premier-hopefuls like Doug Horner and Ted Morton clearly illustrates that the PC party will continue to be insensitive to the concerns of Albertans.
