A cocaine dealer formerly of St. Albert will spend the next three and a half years behind bars for a series of drug and firearm-related offences.
Daniel Timothy Brower of Edmonton was convicted in Sherwood Park Provincial Court earlier this month on four charges.
He was sentenced to 42 months for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, 36 months for possession of a restricted firearm, six months for possession of property obtained by crime and 30 days for unauthorized possession of a firearm, with all sentences to be served concurrently.
Const. Janice Schoepp said in a press release that Brower was known to be a prolific cocaine trafficker in the community.
St. Albert RCMP, in conjunction with the Edmonton Police Service, raided a north Edmonton home following a two-week investigation in December 2011.
Police seized roughly six ounces of cocaine valued at more than $17,000, a small amount of marijuana, a vehicle and $8,635 cash which was suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
Two firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number and a .45-calibre handgun, were recovered. Brower did not possess a license to own the handgun and it is illegal to own a sawed-off shotgun.
Brower was also handed a lifetime firearm prohibition.
Brower was charged for these crimes in conjunction with Carly Diane Bodnarek. RCMP could not be reached for comment on what, if any, charges Bodnarek was convicted of.
