Current Swell’s debut at the Arden Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 5 is completely sold out. Not one to disappoint fans, the Victoria based indie rock band has added a second concert on Friday, Oct. 4.

The highly energetic foursome is a hometown favourite. Current Swell, originally founded by St. Albert natives Scott Stanton and Dave Lang, and rounded off by Victoria’s Chris Peterson and Ontario import Ghosty, have developed a strong national presence.

Surfing is an all-day pleasure for them and with their beachy looks, their songwriting has been branded surf rock. But it’s never hindered them and in the seven plus years of their formation, they have opened for The Beach Boys, Xavier Rudd and The Beautiful Girls.

They’ve gigged at the Ottawa Blues Festival and the 2010 Winter Olympics. Tours have taken them throughout Canada, the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.

And their fourth album, Long Time Ago, is available to fans. With a block of success behind them, they’re leaving their stamp on the international music scene.

Opening for them is Jon and Roy, a three-piece folk and reggae band from Victoria. They will play music from Let It Go, their latest release.

Tickets for the concert are $28. Call 780-459-1542 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
