Travis Vader was back in court last week to face charges laid while out on bail during the manslaughter trial for the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann.
Vader, who is serving life in prison for the death of the St. Albert couple, is facing charges of break and enter, possession of stolen property, multiple failure to comply with court order charges and breach of conditions.
Vader, 45, racked up multiple charges while he was out on bail during the manslaughter trial for the death of St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann. According to documents, Vader took a drug test on May 5, 2016 and it came back positive for methamphetamine. He is also alleged to have contacted one of the Crown’s witnesses, Donald Bulmer, between March 12 and April 17. Bulmer and Vader used to be roommates.
Vader was also arrested after police alleged he was involved in a truck and copper wire theft at an industrial park.
After the incident, Vader’s bail was revoked and he remained in custody for the rest of the trial, which wrapped up in December.
A man has pleaded not guilty to eight charges of animal cruelty stemming from a discovery in a Sturgeon County home in December.
Justin Lawrence Iverson, 30, pleaded not guilty to charges of animal cruelty and wilfully causing pain to animals. He appeared in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court.
In Dec. 2016 Edmonton Police asked the Redwater RCMP to check on a home in Sturgeon County to ensure Iverson was abiding by his court conditions not to own or possess animals.
The Mounties searched the home and found nine pit bulls in kennels in various stages of medical distress. Some of the dogs had injuries to their faces and legs and showed signs of malnourishment.
One pit bull was found dead outside the home.
The chief of the Alexander First Nation Kurt Burnstick was slated to enter a plea on charges of sexual assault and break and enter in an alleged incident that took place in 1985.
On Tuesday morning in Morinville the provincial court was adjourned and he is now slated to appear on March 21 for election and plea.
He is currently facing two counts of sexual assault and one count of break and enter.
The break and enter and one of the sexual assaults allegedly took place between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30, 1985.
In January, Burnstick was acquitted of another sexual assault charge in St. Albert provincial court.
