Gazette adopts new online comment system

This week the St. Albert Gazette switched its website to a new commenting system called DISQUS. This new system will allow better protection against spam in our story comments, which are becoming an inconvenience to our readers.

This week the St. Albert Gazette switched its website to a new commenting system called DISQUS. This new system will allow better protection against spam in our story comments, which are becoming an inconvenience to our readers. Hopefully it will also limit rude or vulgar comments.

As a result of the change, anyone wishing to comment online will need to re-register using the new DISQUS module. You can create a DISQUS account using any email address or you can log in using your existing Facebook, Twitter, OpenID or Yahoo! account. You can also subscribe to the comments thread of any story by email or RSS feed so you can keep track of ongoing discussions. Our terms of use policy regarding commenting continues to apply under our new comments system.

Unfortunately we were unable to migrate comments from our former system over to the new system, which means that several ongoing discussions on past stories have been lost. We apologize for that inconvenience, but we're confident that you will find the new features and reduced spam will more than make up for it.
