Medical Ethics and the Law on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Jim Bell, ethics committee member at the Sturgeon Community Hospital and Sarah Morre of Gaffney & McGreer Law will be discussing topics including wills, health care directives, powers of attorney and competency.

Financial Planning, Not Just Rates of Return on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.

David Moulds, a certified financial planning professional at Return on Wealth Inc. will be discussing types of investments, insurance and charitable giving options.

Menopause - A "HOT" Topic on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Jackie Kassam and members of the St. Albert & Sturgeon Primary Care Network will discuss the physiological changes associated with menopause, options for symptom treatment and management and nutritional recommendations.

The next meeting of the Greater Edmonton Health Advisory Council, which includes St. Albert, will be held on Jan. 15.

Residents can provide feedback at the meeting about health care services by Alberta Health Services and input about local and regional health.

Thursday’s meeting will be held in Classroom 1 of the Robbins Learning Centre, 10240 Kingsway Ave in Edmonton, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Public feedback will be heard shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Patients living with diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure or heart disease can now get online help.

Better Choices, Better Health® is a series of free workshops that teach self-management skills to those living with chronic disease so they can feel better and live a healthier life.

In-person workshops have been available throughout Alberta since 2011.

Online workshops can take up to 25 participants. Individuals log in at their convenience two or three times a week for a total of about two hours a week.
