Some hockey heroes of the past can be seen in action once again to raise funds for the unsung military heroes of today.

Some hockey heroes of the past can be seen in action once again to raise funds for the unsung military heroes of today.

Names such as: Kelly Buchberger, Fernando Pisani and Ryan Smyth will be mentioned on Saturday, May 24 when the puck drops at Clare Drake Arena (87 Ave. and 115 St.) for the Heroes Hockey Challenge. This two-day event consists of the Yellow Ribbon Gala Dinner on the evening of May 23, and a hockey game between the Oilers Alumni and retired military veterans.

Both events are hosted in order to raise funds to support the Canadian Military and their families.

The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson is the keynote speaker for the gala, and will also drop the puck during the hockey game.

This event is hosted to exhibit national hockey and military pride, as well as to raise funds and awareness for two key organizations that benefit those who serve in the military, as well as their families.

Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) is an infantry regiment that serves all of Canada, and is stationed in Edmonton. The Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that assists individuals and families in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Tickets for both events may be purchased at www.heroeshockeychallenge.ca
