One set of doors will close and a new set will open this weekend as the Hole family makes its move across town.

The Hole's Greenhouses & Gardens location at the corner of Boudreau Road and Bellerose Drive will serve its last customer on Sunday afternoon. The company's new facility, the Enjoy Centre, opens Monday morning.

Co-owner Jim Hole said Monday's opening will be a soft launch of the facility with the major components ready to go and other parts coming along in the weeks and months ahead.

"Not everything will be open but the main components will be open and it will certainly be worth the view," he said. "As we move along it will be more of a phased opening. As the season progresses, we will open more and more areas up."

In addition to the facility's main garden centre, its restaurant will also be open for business.

Hole said they have some plants that will have to be loaded up, but they have also used the greenhouses at the new facility to start growing.

"We have some plants over at the existing site that will be transported over there and we have some plants that started growing right over there," he said. "We are utilizing both facilities just in this transition time."

Hole said a move like this poses some logistical challenges. While they have a plan in place, they are also adapting to challenges as they come.

He said information about the facility is available on the company's Facebook page, which will also include information about passes the company is giving away for all access tours and other promotions.

Mixed emotions

The Hole family has been selling plants at its current location for decades. Hole said the move is exciting, but also pulls at their heartstrings.

"We have never been afraid to change, but certainly every time you do change there is a tear in your eye when you move on to a different phase," he said. "It is an emotional time, no question about it."

The Enjoy Centre offers the company many new opportunities, but Hole said the current facility is where everything began.

"With the new facility, it is very exciting. We can do many things that we can't do here, but at the same time this is the original farm site," Hole said. "We have taken a lot of the original spirit that mom and dad had from our existing operation and transplanted them there."

He said the Enjoy Centre would include photos from the original facility to help remember where they got started.

"We are really ensuring that we are honouring the history and the past and making sure we don't forget it, not that we ever would."
