A St. Albert man is facing charges after he was arrested in connection with a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Sept. 1. William McNamara already faced charges after another collision that same week.

RCMP said an 81-year-old woman was crossing St. Vital Avenue near the St. Albert Catholic Parish Church when a car struck her. The woman was transported to hospital by ambulance with what appeared to be serious injuries.

McNamara, 50, has since been arrested. He will appear in St. Albert court on Sept. 14 on charges including impaired driving and driving while disqualified. He is also charged with driving an uninsured vehicle.

McNamara faces similar charges in connection to another collision on Aug. 29. RCMP were called to an accident after a 2010 red Hyundai Accent was said to have rear-ended a car with two Edmonton passengers.

McNamara, the driver of the red Hyundai, was arrested that day and is facing charges including impaired driving, driving with an uninsured motor vehicle and failing to produce a valid insurance. He will appear in court on these charges on Sept. 28.

After the Sept. 1 collision, the red Hyundai had been towed. McNamara has since been released to attend court on $1,400 bail and with numerous conditions on his behaviour.
