RCMP have still not released the identity of a man killed late Friday in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 28 near Hwy. 803, west of Bon Accord.

Morinville RCMP were called to a serious injury collision around 11:30 p.m. involving a northbound pickup truck and southbound semi-trailer truck.

As a result of the collision the pickup caught fire, which was extinguished by the Morinville and Sturgeon County Fire and Rescue departments. The driver was pulled out by civilian witnesses at the scene and taken to an Edmonton hospital. He died from his injuries Saturday morning.

The driver of the semi had to be extricated from the vehicle and suffered serious non-life threatening injuries in the collision. He is no longer in hospital, RCMP said.

Morinville RCMP along with the RCMP collision analyst are still investigating. They are not releasing the names of the people involved or information on the cause of the collision at this time.
