Man killed in Sturgeon County car crash

A Mayerthorpe man is dead after his car collided with a pickup truck in Sturgeon County on Monday. Morinville RCMP was called to a two motor-vehicle collision on Highway 28 just north of Highway 37 at approximately 7:46 p.m. on Nov. 18.

Morinville RCMP was called to a two motor-vehicle collision on Highway 28 just north of Highway 37 at approximately 7:46 p.m. on Nov. 18.

Upon arrival it was determined a southbound Dodge pickup lost control on a hill and collided with a northbound Pontiac G5 car.

The driver of the car, a 37-year-old male from Mayerthorpe, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital via ground ambulance with undisclosed injuries.

This collision is still under investigation by the Morinville RCMP. Road conditions at the time of the collision may have been a factor. It was snowing at the time.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
