Morinville launches new brand

Morinville’s new look and brand got an official kickoff Monday night with the new town logo appearing on everything the town produces or does.

Morinville’s new look and brand got an official kickoff Monday night with the new town logo appearing on everything the town produces or does.

The town held a series of branding workshops last fall leading to the selection of the new logo that is already on the town’s website and water bills. It will soon be adorning trucks, buildings and everything else connected to the community.

The logo features a stylized M, which is meant to reflect the architecture of the community’s historic church, along with a green leaf underneath and the slogan “Growing Together.”

Council officially selected the new logo in December after an advisory board and an online poll resulted in a dead heat between the new logo and another option.

Coun. Paul Krauskopf said the new logo gives the right impression of Morinville as a growing community.

“It shows that we are being a bit more progressive and fresh and trying to attract people to our community.”

Mayor Lloyd Bertschi said the town needed a fresh look.

“There comes a time when you have to do a refresh and certainly we were at the time for that.”

Krauskopf said the town is a changing place, which wasn’t reflected before.

“It really didn’t represent what Morinville is all about and I think this new tagline is a little bit more modern.”

The new brand will also be incorporated into the new cultural centre and the town’s centennial celebrations. Bertschi said that with so much going on this year, it will be nice to have a new image for the community.

He said the new brand is going to be used as part of the town’s efforts to attract new residents and business.

He said he doubts anyone is going to move to the community because of a new logo, but at the same time it projects an overall image of a nice place to be.

With a planned marketing campaign for the year ahead he believes it will be a very good year for the community.

“I see it really as Morinville’s time to rise to the top.”
