New owner, same store

After 25 years of making his own wine, Cal Howard decided to turn his hobby into a business. So when St. Albert’s Wine Kitz came up for sale, he jumped at the opportunity.

Despite the change in ownership (former owner Michael Herald retired last month), Howard said customers can expect the same employees and customer service they came to know in the past.

“We will still carry the products that we always carried but we are looking for our customer feedback as to how to make it a one-stop shop – an even better store – for them,” he said. “If they want us to get into different type of kits … or if there’s something we can look at such as glassware or service ware.”

He added that he is bringing in a line of Portuguese olive oil, balsamic vinegars, cooking sauces and hot peppers to see if customers are interested in these products. He also hopes to gather recipes from customers for the wine of the month and make them available in the store.

Wine Kitz is located at Suite 140 in the Perron Courtyard at 15 Perron St., north of the Canada Post office in downtown St. Albert.
