RCMP have arrested a man and a woman after a car chase resulted in a stolen truck crashing into the fence of a house in Grandin on Wednesday.
St. Albert RCMP responded to a call around 2 p.m. on Dec. 4 to assist Edmonton Police Services (EPS) in locating a stolen vehicle that was involved in other incidents earlier in the day in Edmonton.
The stolen white pick up truck was being tracked by an unmarked EPS vehicle and an Air 1 helicopter into St. Albert when it increased its speed to a level which was believed to be dangerous to the public.
The truck eventually crashed into the backyard fence of a house on the corner of Grosvenor Boulevard and Gordon Crescent. The man driving and the woman in the passenger seat both fled on foot in opposite directions.
Officers located the driver - later identified as Cole Symons, 29, of Whitecourt - and arrested him as he exited a Grandin area home he had just broken into. The home was unoccupied at the time.
The female passenger was located and arrested a few blocks away. As of Thursday afternoon she has been released from custody and charges are pending.
RCMP said both Symons and the female passenger are facing numerous criminal code charges.
Symons has been charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, break and enter and failing to stop at a scene of an accident. He will appear in St. Albert court on Dec. 9.
