If you’re looking to adopt a new furry friend, look no further than the Morinville Veterinary Clinic.

The Morinville clinic is partnering with Hervey Foundation for Cats to get the word out about adopting locally. The clinic has animals up for adoption.

“We sort of decided that maybe we should start partnering together and trying to go out to the community and getting the community … realizing there is another adoption place or facility for people to go to,” said Marjorie Hervey, founder and president of the Hervey Foundation for Cats. “We’re really wanting to start a fairly major campaign where people start thinking about adopting locally.”

“The main purpose of the partnership is to get the word out that there are animals up for adoption here,” said Denise Gallant, practice manager at the Morinville Veterinary Clinic.

Both women said it’d be nice to adopt local unclaimed strays back out into the local communities.

Hervey, who also offers adoptions out of her Stony Plain facility, will be supplying cats if and when the clinic has none up for adoption. The Morinville Veterinary Clinic serves as a holding facility for strays in the town and also takes stray dogs out of St. Albert. After three days, if the animal hasn’t been claimed, it becomes the property of the clinic and they move to find the pet a new home.

“We’re also going to do adoption days there and other promotions,” Hervey said.

The adoption fee for a cat is $175 with tax, and that includes spaying or neutering, a microchip, vaccinations, a vet check and free pet health insurance for six weeks and some other medical tests.

“We will hold an animal until we find it a home,” Gallant said.

Gallant said the clinic regularly posts to its Facebook page about what animals are up for adoption. She noted they do adopt out dogs as well as felines.

The Hervey Foundation can be reached at 780-963-4933 for cat adoption inquiries. The Morinville Veterinary Clinic can be contacted toll free at 1-877-939-3133.
