A St. Albert taxi driver got away unhurt after he was threatened with a knife. The driver had picked up a young man from the city’s central Tim Hortons restaurant on St. Albert Trail around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 and was driving him to the Oakmont neighbourhood.

At the Oakmont footbridge, another man got into the car. He then pulled out a knife and told the taxi driver to give him his money. The driver was able to flee his vehicle without getting hurt or giving the man any money. The two passengers also got out of the car and ran away southward across the footbridge.

The first passenger is described as tall with a skinny build, dark curly hair and wearing a black hoodie and jeans. He is in his late teens or early 20s. The second passenger is around five-foot-eight, also with a thin build and dark curly hair. He wore a dark-red hoodie and shorts.

A St. Albert youth was robbed on his way home after he was threatened with bear spray. The 16-year-old was riding his bicycle on Red Willow Trail on Saturday, Aug. 29 around 12:45 a.m. when two young men stopped him. They took a small amount of money from the teenager and then ran off.

The youth was not hurt physically but St. Albert Victim Services is providing support to him. He described both robbers as white-skinned, about 5-feet-10-inches tall and with a slim build.

The first robber was in his late teens to early 20s, clean-shaven and wore a grey hoodie, baggy jeans, a white hat and skater shoes. The second robber had patchy facial hair and also wore skater shoes and baggy jeans, a black hoodie with white lettering and a black hat.
