Someone is falsely raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Morinville RCMP received a complaint on Feb 5, 2015 about a person fundraising on behalf of Coach’s Corner Sports Bar in Morinville and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Edmonton.

The owner of the bar said his business is not involved in this fundraiser. The foundation also has no one registered with them to fundraise in the area.

The RCMP believes the person used both the names of Coach’s Corner and the foundation to collect donations. Police are asking the St. Albert business community to call them if contacted by the suspect.

It is believed that the suspect tried to raise funds at the end of January. If your business was approached, please contact the Morinville RCMP at 780-939-4520.

A senior hit three Canadian Tire employees with his car before driving away last month.

The unknown elderly male bought wiper blades at the St. Albert store on Feb. 12. As a courtesy service, staff offered to put the blades on inside the store’s garage. After being guided through the garage opening, the man stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake and hit the three employees.

One man went to the hospital with minor injuries. The other two employees were uninjured. The driver left the scene without identifying himself. He is described as a Caucasian male with grey hair who walks with a limp and a cane. His car is a blue 2004 Dodge Neon SX. The hit and run took place around 4 p.m. The Canadian Tire store is located at 40 Bellerose Drive.

A driver rear-ended a car after travelling through St. Albert at high speed.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 17, RCMP received multiple calls of a golden, later model Chevrolet half-ton truck driving erratically along Sir Winston Churchill Avenue near Poirier Avenue. The truck then hit a beige Ford Fusion. The driver of the Ford was not injured but his car was damaged.

A witness told RCMP the truck’s licence plate information. Checks revealed that the plate was stolen out of Edmonton. The last time the truck was seen was at the intersection of Sturgeon Road and Sir Winston Churchill Avenue, where it was heading north on Sturgeon Road.

“We believe that the suspect driver in this collision is involved in other ongoing criminal activity,” said Cst. Yelena Avoine with the St. Albert RCMP. “As such, we are hopeful that the public can help us make a positive identification and prevent any future criminality.”

Anyone with information about these crimes can call the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
