Police are looking for a man who allegedly had an inappropriate conversation with a teenaged girl before touching her inappropriately.
The unidentified male allegedly approached the junior-high aged female during the lunch hour on Jan. 21 near Garden Crescent.
The girl reported the incident to an adult, who then contacted police, said Cpl. Laurel Kading of the St. Albert RCMP.
She said no force was used and the girl was able to walk away without the man following her. RCMP said the incident is not believed to be random and no other youth have reported similar incidents.
Garden Crescent is in close proximity to several elementary schools and Sir George Simpson Junior High School.
“We, ourselves, don’t believe that we have a situation that parents have to become fearful about,” Kading said.
She said it’s important for parents and children to be aware of personal safety rules and suggested they refer to www.childfind.ca for safety tips.
The man is described as being between five foot six and five foot eight, of African descent with very dark skin and possibly speaks with an accent.
