Two St. Albert men are facing drug charges after police seized cocaine, cash and a PT Cruiser during an investigation last weekend.

Matthew Scott Tribble, 24 and Matthew Darrin Carberry, 23 have both been charged with one count of possession of the purposes of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.

They were both released on cash bail and will next appear in court on July 9.

After what police are calling a short-term investigation, police stopped a vehicle and found 37.5 grams of powdered cocaine, $1,500 cash, a replica handgun and a number of cellphones.

In addition to seizing the drugs and cash, Const. Janice Schoepp said drug unit officers also seized the vehicle under the province’s criminal forfeiture law.

Schoepp said, as in most cases, this investigation began with a tip from the public. She encouraged residents to use the city’s drug tip line to report suspicious activity: 780-460-3784.
