Pedestrians and transit users who frequent Campbell Business Park will find getting around a bit easier once new sidewalks are completed in the next month.

Work began this month on sidewalks along Boudreau Road near the Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club and across the road from the Apex Casino. It’s an area where grass has been the norm for years.

“With the bus stops and the bus service there’s a need for some pedestrian access,” said project manager Larry Galye.

“There’s a lot of people walking in there. We have bus service along Boudreau with basically no access to it. They’re walking over grass.”

The project will cost just under $200,000, Galye said.

It’s part of the Anthony Henday Drive connector program, which saw the widening of Boudreau Road to Veness Road.

There are currently no plans to extend sidewalks throughout the business park or to Servus Credit Union Place.

“Not in the industrial park itself. Not saying it wouldn’t happen in the future. We’re trying to look at the perimeter first,” Galye said.

The sidewalks should be completed within the next couple of weeks, Galye said. Landscaping and boulevard cleanup could take another month after that.
