A St. Albert man charged with trafficking drugs in June has again been arrested by police, this time in possession of what RCMP believe to be fake OxyContin.

Officers from the St. Albert drug unit arrested Shane Fry, 27, and Carley Sherban, 21, both of St. Albert on Sept. 30 as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

The silver car the pair was in was searched, as was a Morinville hotel room. Police believe the pair was trafficking in St. Albert and Morinville.

RCMP seized an undisclosed amount of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, Methylone and Ativan.

There was also a quantity of blue-green coloured tablets with the number 80 on them. The tablets are "extremely similar" to pills seized by police at the end of September, which were sold as OxyContin but actually contained Fentanyl, say RCMP. Fentanyl is an opioid pain medication more potent than morphine.

Fry and Sherban have each been charged with six counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained as proceeds of crime.

Fry faces an additional four charges of breach of recognizance stemming from earlier court matters.

The 27-year-old faces several drug-related charges from an investigation in June. RCMP seized cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, OxyContin and another designer drug.

Fry and Sherban are scheduled to appear in St. Albert court Oct. 27.
