If you’re having trouble finding peace in your life then a travelling speaker might have just the right words of encouragement for you.

Philip Ponchet, a national director with the Inner Peace Movement of Canada, will be in St. Albert on Tuesday to speak on the subject of inner peace, but his two lectures are also meant to help people be happier and more effective in their lives.

“In our society we talk a lot about managing resources and energy supply,” he explained. “What the Inner Peace Movement helps people with is tapping into their own inner resources and an unlimited supply of positive energy we have inside, so we can be more successful in our endeavours.”

The Inner Peace Movement (IPM) is described as a self-help program of people helping people to become aware of their universal nature and their inner potential. It is a registered non-profit educational organization with offices in Canada, Europe and Australia. Its website says it is one of the oldest and most respected consciousness expansion efforts and that it is not a religion.

Ponchet, currently on a cross-Canada tour, has been involved with the program for more than 30 years. He was a young adult in Victoria who found himself in an existential funk as he first discovered what made him different from most people he knew.

“I was in a place where I was looking for answers.”

He realized that his sensitive nature had led him to not only perceive the feelings of others but then adopt them as his own.

“What I found was that I was having trouble in my life and I thought it was all me, my doing.”

After becoming a part of the movement, he was able to figure out this strange gift and learn more about himself. Today, he describes himself as a pretty successful and satisfied person because of it.

These introductory lectures will cover topics including our real nature, balance of thought and feeling, guardian angels, the four psychic gifts, and the seven-year cycles of life. Ponchet’s goal is to help people learn how to be more relaxed and trust their instincts, find their life purposes, and have more fun.

“We need to learn to relax more and start listening to ourselves, our inner voice, our hunches and gut feelings because that is our inner GPS that guides our decisions in life. The IPM programs help a person to become aware of their own intuition and how it serves them in day-to-day situations. It can be a life-saver when we follow it.”
