Morinville RCMP are looking for witnesses to a collision that put a teenage pedestrian in hospital on Wednesday.

A girl in her mid-teens was crossing 100 Street at 99 Avenue in Morinville when she was struck by a southbound pickup at around 9 p.m. She was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital with serious injuries, which included broken bones, said Staff Sgt. Mac Richards.

The truck was being driven by a lone adult male, who has provided police with an account of the incident. Police were following up Thursday to get a statement from the girl. She was alone at the time of the incident, Richards said.

Morinville RCMP are also seeking witnesses to provide clarity about what happened. They are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 780-939-4550.

Police are still investigating but believe that alcohol and speed were not factors in the collision.
