Six St. Albert teens reported being robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday morning and the RCMP are looking for help identifying the three teens responsible.

One of the six teens was taking his friends home very early Tuesday morning, around 5:15 a.m., when he stopped briefly at the Lacombe Lake Reservoir and pump station. While the six were in the parking lot trying to figure out their next stop a second vehicle pulled up alongside them. The six teens got out of their car to see who had arrived.

At that point, three suspects — two males and one female — got out of their vehicle and produced a gun, demanding a wallet from one of the victims.

The male holding the gun also fired a shot into the air during this exchange and then told all six teens to start walking away from the suspects towards a nearby school.

The suspects then fled in their vehicle and the six teens called the RCMP.

Police have only limited descriptions from the six teens, who were shaken, but not physically hurt in the altercation.

The female driver of the suspect vehicle had shoulder-length dark hair. The man who came out of the front seat was wearing a toque and dark clothes and the man with the gun was clean-shaven with a short haircut that featured designs shaved into his hair. He was wearing dark clothes and all three suspects were believed to be between 16 and 19 years old.

The suspect vehicle could only be described as a four-door car that is light-coloured, possibly beige or silver.

Const. Janice Schoepp of the St. Albert RCMP said the victims had slightly differing descriptions, making it difficult to give more detail conclusively.

"There are different beliefs about what the vehicle was. We don't have a consistent enough description to say that it was this make or model," she said.

Pepper spray

The incident was the third robbery to be reported within the last month.

On Jan. 20 a 14-year-old boy walking home from school was approached by three men wearing handkerchiefs, who got out of an older black four-door car.

The three men approached the boy, sprayed him with bear spray and took his iPod and cell phone, before running off.

The boy described two of the men as being between six-foot-one and six-foot-two, while the third man was shorter. They were between 18 and 20 years of age and one was wearing a white baseball hat.

Another swarming type robbery occurred on Winston Churchill Avenue in early January. Schoepp said police are looking for any similarities.

"We are looking into all avenues to see if there seems to be a connection between them," she said.

Anyone with any information on either of these cases is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700.
