Threats prompt lockdown at Sturgeon Composite

A Barrhead man is facing charges stemming from threats that prompted officials to briefly lock down Sturgeon Composite High School on Friday morning.

Jamie Measures, 22, is being held without bail and will make his first court appearance Thursday on two charges of uttering threats.

Police received a report from two teens at the school early Friday and briefly locked down the school out of concern for student safety.

“It was only about 15 minutes until we were able to get it covered off,” said Morinville RCMP Staff Sgt. Mac Richards.

The threats were directed at two students of the school who contacted police, but Richards declined to get into greater detail.

He said the threats were not levied in person.
