The St. Albert Community Information & Volunteer Centre has many volunteer opportunities to choose from and can help find the right fit for you, even if you are not sure of what that might be. Share your passion for astronomy and showcase the skies as you supervise and co-ordinate the set-up and use of telescopes during public observing sessions. The sky is the limit as you share relevant information to lead visitors on an astronomical adventure. Knowledge and a sincere interest in astronomy and the constellations are required, as well as prior telescope experience. Shifts are Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

This organization co-ordinates arts, heritage and cultural activities in our community. Help them by volunteering at their fundraising casino, March 29 and 30 at the Apex Casino in St. Albert.

Caring, dedicated and mature people are needed to provide front-line support, information and referrals to victims, families and others affected by crime or tragedy. Help this organization to help others in a time of crisis. Volunteers will receive extensive training, and should have the capability to work with the RCMP as well as have the availability to work on an on-call basis. The position is based in Morinville but will require travel in Sturgeon County.

Habitat for Humanity has started the build at Aurora Place and needs you. This is a great opportunity to get involved in our community, learn new skills, work in a team and contribute to the future home of a local family. Skill range can be anything from beginner to trained trades people. Orientation and training will be provided for all. Sign up as an individual or as part of a group. Join and experience the satisfaction that comes from lending your hands and heart to a family in need.

Do you enjoy researching topics, writing articles, editing and working within deadlines? Help this non-profit organization to publish their newsletter every three months, reporting on newsworthy advancements in the medical field as well as human interest pieces. The schedule can be flexible and work can be done at home and/or in the office.

Do you enjoy cooking and have a desire to share that interest with others? Assist clients in learning new cooking skills and recipes, while helping this local organization as a facilitator or helper. You should have food safety knowledge and be able to commit to a monthly shift of two hours per session plus a few committee meetings throughout the year.

Do you speak Spanish and are you friendly, patient and have a helpful nature? Be a friendly visitor and help this individual, who has been self-studying, with his conversational Spanish and Spanish grammar. Weekly visits are flexible as to when it takes place.
