Small Business Week

Once a year, St. Albert nominates and celebrates the local businesses and independent organizations exemplifying what makes our business community great. The eight available nomination categories range from the prestigious Small Business of the Year Award to the new Community Leadership award. A week of events lead up to the Awards of Distinction evening held in the Arden Theatre where the best in local business are recognized, red-carpet style, for their outstanding achievements. Traditionally, the evening is one of entertainment, excellent food and a fair amount of cheering. This year we are proud to announce that Carrie Doll is coming to speak about her story, struggles and triumphs during her transition from a prominent news anchor to small business owner. Save the date for Oct. 16 and join us for one of the most anticipated yearly chamber events.

Pinkest Little City in the West!

The first Pinkest Little City Fundraiser for the Wild Pink Yonder and the Alberta Cancer Foundation was a great success. Our community stepped up to help raise more than $4,500 for breast cancer research and awareness. Over a five-week period, St. Albert businesses collected donations and hung pink ribbons and posters in their windows. The Farmers' Market had the Pinkest Little Market on Aug. 23, and when the riders arrived, we hosted them with a Pink Barbecue and a declaration by the mayor. A huge thank you to everyone for supporting this fundraiser. The riders of the Wild Pink Yonder have already hinted they would like to come on a Friday or Saturday next year. Keep an eye out next summer for a bigger and better Pinkest Little City!
