Tickets for the Jiffy Lube Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts are selling at the pace organizers expected for the January 25 to 29 event at the St. Albert Curling Club.

Jackie Rae Greening, chair of the organizing committee for the Jan. 25 to 29 national qualifier, reports the full event packages are selling well since they went on sale Nov. 22 but was reluctant to get into specific numbers.

So far, the majority of sales are from club members through the pre-event sales event and sponsorship packages.

A rush for tickets will intensify once more teams have been declared. So far, Val Sweeting is the lone confirmed qualifier in the 12-team field as the 2015/16 highest-ranked Alberta rink in the Canadian Team Ranking System.

Sweeting is a two-time runner-up at the Canadian Scotties and her 2015 lineup of Paul Kane High School teacher Lori Olson-Johns at third, second Dana Ferguson and lead Rachel Brown lost the final to Jennifer Jones of Manitoba.

The northern Alberta playdowns, Jan. 5 to 8 in Fort Saskatchewan, will determine the last provincial qualifiers.

The $100 full event packages for the Alberta Scotties, including single general admission tickets to each of the 12 draws, are available online only through www.stalbertcurling.com until Jan. 15.

For one day only, full event packages can be purchased at the door Jan. 25.

Also, single draw tickets will only be available at the door approximately one hour prior to the start of each draw.

Prices are $10 for draws one to eight and $20 for draws nine to 12.

Admission is free for youths under the age of 12 when accompanied by an adult ticketholder.

General admission bleachers will be set up on sheet one and reserved seating is the VIP Patio section on sheet six and the Sponsor Loft in the Friendly Giant Lounge.

Spectator viewing will also be available upstairs, where the media room and volunteer lounge will be located.

Sunday’s semifinal and final will be televised on Sportsnet.

The provincial champion advances to the Canadian Scotties, Feb. 18 to 26 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ont.

Sponsorship and support from the community for the first Alberta Scotties in St. Albert since 1984 has been strong with several sponsorship opportunities filled.

For sponsorship inquirers, contact Gil Jouan at 780-293-2986 or [email protected].

Entertainment-wise, the Alberta Scotties should be a hoot with RAVE ON, billed as the “238th best band you’ve ever heard,” rocking the Owl’s Nest in The Friendly Giant Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights.
