NCABL Cardinals
The North Central Alberta Baseball League's season opener is Tuesday between the St. Albert Cardinals and the defending champion Edmonton Blackhawks.
Start time is 7 p.m. at RE/MAX Field.
The first home game is May 14 against the Sherwood Park Athletics at 7 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
Last year’s senior AA Cardinals finished one spot short of the semifinals at 11-10 for fifth place in the eight-team standings. The 5-4 loss to the Westlock Red Lions in the second-last league game determined the last playoff berth.
Two years ago, the Cardinals fell one win short of advancing to the NCABL playoffs for the first time in team history after losing the wildcard elimination game 4-1 to the Westlock.
The Cardinals joined the NCABL in 2013.
