The St. Albert Impact Rangers play their penultimate game of the season Thursday when they host the KC Trojans 1 squad at Riel Park at 7 p.m.

St. Albert (two wins, five draws and two losses) is in seventh place in the 12-team premier division of the Edmonton District Soccer Association and is coming off a disappointing 4-4 draw with Africana FC (2-2-5) July 7.

Playing up to their potential and converting on their chances has been a problem for the Rangers for much of this season and they’ll have to make sure to turn that around to improve on their current position with two games remaining. The Trojans are right in front of the Rangers, in sixth with a 4-0-5 record. St. Albert concludes the season at Riel Park on July 22 when they host Roots United (2-1-6).

The St. Albert Impact 2 men play against AC Milan 2 tonight at 8:15 p.m. at Riel Park. St. Albert is third in the eight-team Division 1A with a 3-3-1 record, while Milan is last with just one win on the season, along with two draws and four losses. The first time the two teams met, it was a 2-2 tie on May 26. Milan also boasts Andy Estrada, who has five goals in seven matches, tied for third in the division. Impact striker Cohen Cassidy also has five goals this season.

In Division 1B, the St. Albert Impact 1 side (3-2-2) take on SS Napoli (6-1-2) at the Edmonton Soccer Association complex tonight at 6:30 p.m. St. Albert’s last scheduled game, against the Fiji Santan Selects on July 7 in St. Albert, was rained out and will have to be rescheduled. St. Albert has the second-best goal differential in the eight-team division (+10), trailing only the first-place Ital-Canadians (+19). The Impact also has three players in the top 10 in scoring: Daniel Pilon (fourth), Shaun Kelly and Marcello Cimino (both tied for sixth).

The midget AAA St. Albert Cardinals are back in Norwest League action at Legion Memorial Ball Park tonight at 7 p.m.

St. Albert will be up against the first-place SEEBA 1 Cardinals of Edmonton in its first game since June 29. On the weekend, St. Albert played in a tournament in Trail, B.C., where they won their first four games, including a 6-1 win over the hosts, but then lost to Trail 14-9 in Sunday’s final.

St. Albert has a league record of 7-11 so far this year, while SEEBA 1 is 22-1 with 164 runs scored and just 33 against. The Edmonton Cardinals lead the season series 4-0. It is the last time the two teams will meet before provincials at Legion park, which begin on July 29.

St. Albert visited Sherwood Park on Tuesday. The score was not available at press time.
