Top spot in first division men’s rugby is at stake today, when St. Albert battles the Strathcona Druids in Sherwood Park. Kickoff is 5 p.m.

The Druids (5-1-1, 26 points) haven’t suffered a loss since going down to defeat 53-7 to St. Albert in the season-opener May 8. Last weekend they settled for a 15-15 draw with the Lep/Tigers (0-5-1).

St. Albert (6-1, 28 points) is coming off a bitterly contested 18-16 victory against the rival Clansmen (5-3, 26 points), as British import Simon Gregory split the uprights with the game-winning penalty kick late in the affair. It was the fifth straight win by the Alberta Cup pennant winners and provincial finalists the last two years.

The best of the best in the St. Albert men’s and women’s soccer leagues will showcase their skills during today’s all-star festivities at Riel Park.

The coaching staff is from Mavericks 09 (9-1 in division one) and Cosmos FC (4-2 in division two).
