The Baseball Alberta senior AAA provincial tournament is under way at Legion Memorial Park.

The five team round-robin draw started Friday as the host St. Albert Tigers battled the Fort Saskatchewan Athletics, the 2009 national gold medallists, and the Red Deer Stags. Scores were unavailable at press time.

Today at 5 p.m. the Tigers play the Calgary Redbirds. Their last game is noon Sunday against the reigning provincial champion Red Deer Riggers (7-5-1).

If there are no tiebreakers, the final is 3 p.m. Sunday. See page 57 for the provincial schedule.

The winner qualifies for the 2011 nationals in Quebec. The last three host teams at provincials have captured the title. Last year the Tigers didn’t win a game at provincials.
