A record 65 teams are competing for medals at the 12th annual Turkey Ring tournament, hosted by the St. Albert Ringette Association (SARA).

A record 65 teams are competing for medals at the 12th annual Turkey Ring tournament, hosted by the St. Albert Ringette Association (SARA).

The age-group divisions are U8 bunny, U10 novice, U12 petite A, B and C, U14 tween A and B, U16 junior A and B and U19 belle A and B.

SARA is represented by 27 teams.

The 117-game draw started Friday morning and wraps up Monday afternoon. Most of the games are played at Servus Credit Union Place. The schedule is online at www.stalbertringette.com.

The second-last weekend of the regular season for St. Albert teams is under way in the Capital District Minor Football Association. Game times are as follows:

Tier I/II atom Vikings (1-3-1) vs. Edmonton Black Raiders (3-2), 11 a.m. today at Johnny Bright Park.

Tier I/II bantam Fury (3-2) vs. Edmonton Black Raiders (2-3), 12:30 p.m. today at Johnny Bright Park.

Tier III/IV atom Buccaneers (0-5) vs. Leduc Bobcats (3-2), 11 a.m. Monday at Riel Park field.

Tier III/IV atom Jaguars (1-4) vs. Wetaskiwin Wolverines (4-1), 11 a.m. Monday at Wetaskiwin.

Tier III/IV peewee Colts (5-0) vs. Riders (2-3), 12:30 p.m. Monday at Riel Park field.

Tier III/IV bantam 49ers (0-5) vs. Stony Plain Bombers (4-1), 12:30 p.m. Monday at Spruce Grove.

The St. Albert Sabres (1-2-1) host the Sherwood Park Flyers (3-0) in bantam AAA hockey Sunday at Akinsdale Arena. The puck drops at 11 a.m.

Friday night the Sabres played the Kodiaks (0-2-2) in Camrose, but the score was unavailable at press time.

The Sabres were coming off their first win of the season, 6-2 over the Maple Leafs (0-3-1) Tuesday at Coronation Arena. Paul Lovsin scored twice and added one assist. Brett Van Os had one goal and two assists. Michael Buchamer, Steven Canduro and Brett Smythe also tallied. Luke Wright-Mascotto drew two assists. In net was Patrick Dea.

Tonight in Camrose the St. Albert Flyers are gunning for their third straight win of the season in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League. Game time is 7:15 p.m. against the Kodiaks (0-2).

Last weekend at Akinsdale Arena, the Flyers lit up the Maple Leafs 8-3 and KC Centennials 9-3.

Sebastien Auray’s hat trick and two goals by Taylor Fontaine lifted the Flyers past the Maple Leafs (1-1). Blake Bosch, Jake Mykitiuk and Gabriel Chabot had singles. In net was Landon Bow.

Three goals by Chabot led all scorers against KC (0-2). Fontaine, Auray, Mykitiuk, Foster Rae, Luc Lalor and Jeff Harrison also scored. Mykitiuk added three assists. Between the pipes was Tanner McCorriston.

The next home game is Wednesday against the Southside Athletic Club (0-1-1) at 7:45 p.m. at Akinsdale.
