Tier III/IV bantam: 49ers (0-6) vs. Fort Saskatchewan Lightning (1-5), 12:30 p.m. today at Fort Saskatchewan.

Tier III/IV peewee: Riders (2-4) vs. Fort Saskatchewan Thunder (1-5), 3 p.m. today at Fort Saskatchewan.

Tier I/II atom: Vikings (1-4-1) vs. Edmonton Mustangs (1-5), 10 a.m. Sunday at Riel Park field.

Tier III/IV atom: Jaguars (1-5) vs. Buccaneers (0-6), 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Riel Park.

Tier I/II bantam: Fury (3-3) vs. Spruce Grove Cougars (5-1), 1 p.m. Sunday at Riel Park.

Tier III/IV peewee: Colts (6-0) vs. Sherwood Park SabreCats (5-1), 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Riel Park.

The host team for the 2011 Esso Cup national championship has two games scheduled this weekend in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

Today at 2:15 p.m. the St. Albert Slash (6-1-1) play the Calgary Bruins (3-3-2) at Performance Arena. On Sunday the Slash visit the Red Deer Chiefs (5-1-1) at 10:30 a.m.

The Slash are 6-0-1 in their last seven games after starting the season with a 6-2 loss in Red Deer.

The Slash are led by captain Melissa Kueber’s league-high 12 goals in six games. She is tied for fifth place in the points’ race with 13.

Next week the Slash are in Massachusetts for exhibition games against Holy Cross, UMASS Boston, NAHA U19-White, Ontario Hockey Academy-Gold and Assabet Valley U19-Red.

Meanwhile, the Esso Cup runs April 17 to 23 at Servus Credit Union Place. The six-team draw includes the playoff winners from Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic, West and Pacific Region, as well as the Slash.

At the 2010 nationals in Regina, the Thunder Bay (Ont.) Queens beat the Notre Dame (West) Hounds 4-3 for the gold medal. The Edmonton (Pacific) Thunder knocked off the host Rebels 5-1 for the bronze.

The puck drops Sunday for the St. Albert Raiders in the Alberta Major Bantam Female Hockey League. Game time is 11 a.m. against the Grande Prairie Storm (2-0-2) at Performance Arena.

The Raiders were 1-1-2 in league play, prior to Friday’s tilt in Sherwood Park against Royals (0-2-2). The score was unavailable at press time. In previous games against the Royals, the Slash won 4-0 (25 saves by Sarah Murray) in St. Albert and last weekend skated to a 1-1 draw in the Park.

MacKenzie Koep and Eva Lovsin lead the Raiders in points with two goals and one assist in four games.

This is the second year of operation for the female bantam AAA league. Five teams form the north division and five teams are in the south division. The Raiders are coming off a 15-8-3 record last season as the top team in the north.
