Tier IV atom: Jaguars (1-7) vs. Sherwood Park Eskimos (4-4), noon today at Riel Park field.

Buccaneers (1-7) vs. Spruce Grove Cougars (1-7), 10 a.m. today at Riel Park field.

Tier I atom: Vikings (3-4-1) vs. Edmonton Chargers (8-0), 2:30 p.m. today at Sherwood Park.

Tier III peewee: Riders (4-4) vs. Camrose Buffaloes (7-1), 2:30 p.m. today at Spruce Grove.

Colts (7-1) vs. Sherwood Park Sabrecats (7-1), 4:30 p.m. today at Spruce Grove.

Tier II bantam: Fury (3-5) vs. Fort McMurray Ravens (0-8), 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Clarke Park.

Tier IV bantam: 49ers (0-8) vs. Edmonton Mustangs (3-5), 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Johnny Bright Park.

The winners advance to the divisional finals next weekend.

The opening playoff round last weekend determined the semifinal playoff brackets for the following St. Albert teams.

Tier I/II bantam: Edmonton Black Raiders 28, Fury 6.

Tier III/IV bantam: Camrose Buffaloes 41, 49ers 0.

Tier III/IV peewee: Colts 28, Spruce Grove Cougars 13; Riders 30, Millwoods Maulers 14.

Tier I/II atom: Vikings 22, Edmonton Black Raiders 16.

Tier III/IV atom: Camrose Buffaloes 32, Jaguars 0; Wetaskiwin Wolverines 30, Buccaneers 0.

The St. Albert Slash resume league play this weekend in midget AAA female hockey after a successful road trip to New England.

Today at 2:15 p.m. the Slash (7-2-1) entertain the Lloydminster Steelers (0-12) at Performance Arena.

Sunday’s showdown against the north division-leading Edmonton Thunder (9-0-1) starts at 2 p.m. at Castledowns Arena. The Thunder are the 2010 Esso Cup bronze medallists. The Slash are the host team for next year’s nationals, April 17 to 23 at Servus Credit Union Place.

The SAPEC junior high volleyball playoffs start next week with quarter-final matches scheduled Tuesday for girls and Thursday for boys.

The winners qualify for the tier I semifinals Nov. 8 for girls and Nov. 9 for boys. The losing teams compete for tier II honours. The tier II finals are Nov. 16 for boys and Nov. 17 for girls at the highest ranked schools.

The tier I city finals go Nov. 18 at Bellerose Composite High School at 6:15 p.m. (girls) and 7:45 p.m. (boys). The defending champions are the Lorne Akins Gators for boys and Vincent J. Maloney Marauders for girls.

In league play the Gators (7-0, 21 GW/0 GL) finished first in the boys’ division and the Sir George Simpson Voyageurs (6-0, 18 GW/2 GL) were the top girls’ team.
