Special guests include Olympic gold medallist Marc Kennedy and world and Brier champion Blake MacDonald. Entertainment, prizes and free Tim Hortons coffee are also part of the fun.

Meanwhile, tickets are going fast for the Jan. 13 to 16 Continental Cup at Servus Credit Union Place. More than 12,000 have been sold, with more than 70 per cent of the postal codes coming from outside of St. Albert.

Ticket packages for the Ryder Cup-style curling competition can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 780-451-8000 or online at seasonofchampions.ca.

Every draw pass includes complimentary admission to Keith’s Patch, located in Troy Murray Arena. The social centre of the Continental Cup will feature performances by The Classics (Jan. 12), Hey Romeo (Jan. 13), Karac Hendriks and The Chevelles (Jan. 14) and Tera Lee and Souled Out (Jan. 15).

TSN will provide live coverage of the Continental Cup as part of the Canadian Curling Association’s Season of Champions.

St. Albert Slash forwards Jessica Kampjes and Melissa Kueber made the U18 Alberta team for the 2011 Canada Winter Games, Feb. 19 to 27 in Halifax, N.S.

In team scoring Kueber (20-11-31, 14 games) and Kampjes (17-12-29, 18 games) are second and third, respectively.

Meanwhile the Slash (14-3-3) host the Medicine Hat Hounds (12-4-4) today at 2:15 p.m. at Performance Arena in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

Cam Bourque of St. Albert was a double winner at the Edmonton Open Racquetball Championships last weekend at the Mayfield Inn & Suites Athletic Club.

In the men’s A final, the former national champion defeated Derek Parsons 15-9 15-5 for his third win in the single elimination draw.

Bourque and Tim Frattinger teamed up to win the men’s doubles A final 15-5, 15-11 over Parsons and Allen Bauman.

Bourque and Frattinger also competed in the men’s doubles open A bracket and were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
