Special guests are Olympic gold medallist Marc Kennedy and world and Brier champion Blake MacDonald.

The division leaders in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League face off today at Akinsdale Arena when the St. Albert Raiders host the Red Deer Rebels at 2 p.m.

The Raiders (14-5-3) are the top team in the north. The Rebels (14-5-3) share first place in the south with the Calgary Flames (13-4-5).

On Sunday the Raiders visit the Grande Prairie Storm (1-18-3) at 3 p.m. Their last game before the 33rd annual Mac’s tournament in Calgary is Tuesday in Fort Saskatchewan against the Rangers (7-7-7) at 8 p.m.

At the Mac’s the Raiders play the Saskatoon Contacts (11:45 a.m. Dec. 27), Calgary Buffaloes (11:45 a.m. Dec. 28), Okanagan Rockets (8 p.m. Dec. 29) and Carolina Jr. Hurricanes (12:30 p.m. Dec. 30) in their round robin draw.

The team’s record at last year’s Mac’s was 0-3-1.

The St. Albert Slash wrap up the December portion of their schedule in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League today against the Spruce Grove PAC Saints. Game time is 2:15 p.m. at Performance Arena.

In the north standings the Slash (15-3-3) and Saints (6-16) are second and fourth, respectively.

Wednesday’s game between the Slash and the third-place Sherwood Park Fury (7-16) in St. Albert was postponed because of the snow.

Meanwhile, the Slash will defend their tournament title at the Mac’s in Calgary. In pool play the host team for the 2011 Esso Cup is up against the Calgary Chaos (11:30 a.m. Dec. 26), Vancouver Fusion (3:30 p.m. Dec. 28), Medicine Hat Hounds (3:30 p.m. Dec. 29) and Saskatoon Stars (8 a.m. Dec. 30).

The last game before the holidays for the St. Albert Merchants is Sunday against the Stony Plain Flyers at 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Merchants (14-11) are winners of nine of their last 12 games as the fourth-best defensive team (88 GA) in the Capital Junior B Hockey League. The Flyers (1-22-0-2) are the bottom team in the league.
