The novice 1 draw includes the Snipers, Ice Hounds, Wild, Storm, Phantoms and Shock.

The novice 2 bracket features the Ice Hawks, Ice Devils, Cobras, Devastators, Sharks, Chargers and Pink Lightning.

The atom line-up is comprised of the Polar Bears, Kings, Ice Hawks, Roadrunners, Hornets, Chiefs, Bombers, Hawks, Vikings and Morinville.

The atom skills competition is Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. at Akinsdale.

The finals go Wednesday at 1 p.m. (novice 1), 2:30 p.m. (novice 2) and 4 p.m. (atom) at Akinsdale.

Andrew Kary’s second hat trick in as many games for the St. Albert Sabres highlighted Tuesday’s 7-3 win over the Maple Leafs at Coronation Arena.

Six goals in two games boosted Kary’s team-leading total to 15, including four game winners. He is tied for third in points on the Sabres with 21 in 22 games.

Stefan Wood’s first goal of the season with 20 seconds left in period one got the Sabres rolling. Brett Smythe (13th), Brenden Passek (third) and Tyler Mrkonjic (13th) also scored against the Leafs (6-13-4). Paul Lovsin added two assists. Shots were 42-24 for St. Albert. In net was Patrick Gora (8-3-2, 2.43 GAA).

The win was the 11th in 12 games for the streaking Sabres (14-5-3), ranked second in their division and third overall in the north conference in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.

They ring in the new year Jan. 2 against the Spruce Grove PAC Saints (14-3-5). Faceoff is 2:30 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Sabres are 8-1-1 at home and 6-4-2 on the road.

Sarah Murray stopped 33 shots for the bantam AAA female St. Albert Raiders in their recent 1-0 victory against the Edmonton Lightning at Mark Messier Arena.

It was scoreless until Trisha Lakeman struck on the power play with 3:49 to play. Abigail Benning and Jenna Jewell assisted on Lakeman’s third goal of the season.

The fourth shutout by Murray (9-5-4, 2.17 GAA) is tops in the Alberta Major Bantam Female Hockey League. She has been the goalie of record in every game for the Raiders with 1,080 minutes played.

After beating the Lightning, the Raiders took over first place in the north and now sit one point ahead of the Lloydminster Ice Cats (10-7-1) and Edmonton (10-5-1).
