The Dynamyx Gymnastics Club of St. Albert rolls out the welcome mat today for 120 athletes at its annual Sweetheart of a Meet. Thirteen clubs are represented in three different levels. Session times are 8:50 a.m., 12:50 p.m. and 4:50 p.m.

The St. Albert Flyers kick off their weekend homestand at Akinsdale Arena today in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

The puck drops at 1:15 p.m. against the Lloydminster Rage.

Sunday’s tilt with the Spruce Grove PAC Saints starts at 2:30 p.m.

In the north conference the Flyers (22-6-1) are ranked second overall. Lloydminster (14-9-6) is fifth and the Saints (15-9-3) are sixth.

Jake Mykitiuk is the top goal scorer in the conference with 32 and is second in points with 59 in 29 games.

Landon Bow (12-3-1) leads all goalies with a 2.36 GAA. Tanner McCorriston (10-3, 2.48 GAA) has posted a conference-high three shutouts.

The St. Albert Soccer Association has several events scheduled for its indoor teams at Servus Credit Union Place.

A mini-fest for U4, U5, U6, U8 and U10 community teams gets underway today.

The U10 development Mini World Cup will be played Sunday.

The second annual Family Day Classic goes next weekend for U10 to U18 community teams and tier 3 club level teams from St. Albert and across the province.

The Albert Soccer Association provincial championships for U14 tier 1 boys and tiers 1 and 2 girls runs March 18 to 20.

The Canadian Progress Club St. Albert is hosting a pond hockey tournament Feb. 20 at Lacombe Park Lake.

Eight teams will compete in the three-on-three format. Games will be played on two ice surfaces with no goalies and refs. The action starts at 9 a.m.

Hot chocolate, hot dogs and hamburgers will be served and a bonfire will help keep everybody warm.

The entry fee was $100 per team and each player is to donate at least one item to the St. Albert Food Bank.

Members of The Canadian Progress Club St. Albert will have a team entered and they will be volunteering at the event.
