Matt Norminton of Edmonton, the course record holder, is also entered. His time of 50:46 in 2007 broke the long-time mark of 50:55 set by Tom Boone of Calgary in 1991. Norminton was also the runner-up behind Canadian Olympic triathlete Paul Tichelaar in the 2008 race that was staged in a blizzard.

The 10-miler is hosted by the St. Albert Roadrunners and Triathlon Club.
