Two years ago, SAMBA renamed the annual Early Bird tournament during the May long weekend in recognition of Rindero's contributions as a coach, volunteer and passion for the game and also changed the format to AA teams.

Rindero died when his son, Matt, played in the SAMBA rep program and a stone monument at Legion Park honours his memory.
