St. Albert Rams product Sarah Oor made Team Canada for the U19 world lacrosse championship in August at Hannover, Germany.

The former St. Albert resident was selected to the 18-player roster, comprised of players from Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, and ranging in age from 15 to 19.

The United States and Australia are Canada’s main obstacles for gold at worlds.

Oor spent five years playing box lacrosse for the Rams before her family moved to Uxbridge, Ont. in the fall of 2007. The following spring she made the U19 A Oshawa Lady Blue Knights. She would go on to win two provincial field championships and one provincial box lacrosse title with the Whitby Warriors.

Oor is currently a freshman with the Limestone College Saints in Gaffney, S.C.

Sean Richards scored four goals and added one assist as the St. Albert Sabres defeated the Simons Valley Rebels of Calgary 8-5 in the A final of the recent 40th annual Vernon Coca-Cola Peewee Invitational Hockey Tournament.

Connor Deighton also tallied twice as the Sabres captured the Amy Myles Memorial Tournament. Braden Coyle and Ryan Cox notched singles.

In the semifinals, Richards’ hat-trick propelled the Sabres past the Surrey Thunder 8-2.

The Sabres finished the eight-team tournament with 50 goals and 11 against.

In November, the Rebels downed the Sabres 7-5 in the Medicine Hat tournament final.

The Sabres and Rebels are ranked top-five provincially in peewee AA.
