The 2010 Olympic gold medallist scored three goals in five games for Canada, including a pair in the 7-0 rout of Kazakhstan, and was plus-10 defensively.

In Monday’s gold-medal game, the United States three-peated at worlds by defeating Canada 3-2 in overtime.

The silver medal was Canada’s fourth at worlds and Mikkelson’s third with the national team.

Canada has appeared in every final since the inaugural 1990 worlds in Ottawa.

Ewanyk finished the tournament tied for 10th in face-offs won/lost at 58.33 per cent.

The Edmonton Oil Kings’ centre registered one assist, was credited with 13 shots on goal and was plus-one defensively in seven games.

The U18 line-up consisted of players born in 1993 or earlier from Canadian Hockey League teams that were not in the playoffs when player selections were made in early April.

Ewanyk, 18, is rated a third- or fourth-round pick in the NHL entry draft. He was listed 66th among 2011 draft-eligible North American skaters in the last NHL Central Scouting report before the June 24 to 25 draft in St. Paul, Minn.

Eleven players in the St. Albert female hockey program were named to the Northwest Hawks’ roster for the Team Alberta Challenge starting Thursday in Fort Saskatchewan.

Representing the bantam AAA Raiders are defencemen Abigal Benning, Maia Bouchard-Jenkins and Morgan Loroff and forwards Kennedy Bozak, Jenna Jewel, Trisha Lakeman, Megan Lalor, Eva Lovsin and Kennedy Newton.

Autumn Rae, a defenceman with the midget A Rush and forward Karly Heffernan of the midget AAA Slash also made the team.

The head coach is France Montour of the midget A Rush. She served as an assistant coach with Team Canada, silver medallists at the U18 world women’s championship in January at Sweden.

The tournament features the top U16 female players from six zone camps across the province. The rosters are comprised of 20 players, three coaches, a coach mentor, a director of operations and a trainer from each zone.
