WHL Roundup: Boyko's shootout winner caps Cougars' comeback win over Winterhawks

PORTLAND, Ore. — Noah Boyko scored the shootout winner to lift the Prince George Cougars to a 5-4 comeback win over the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday.

Ondrej Becher scored twice for the Cougars (7-7-0), including the game-tying goal to send it to overtime. Carter MacAdams and Chase Wheatcroft also scored one apiece. Ty Young made 36 saves in the win.

Marcus Nguyen scored two goals to lead Portland (8-1-1-1) while Gabe Klassen and Luke Schelter each added one. Jan Spunar stopped 27 shots.

After going up 2-1 in the second period, Prince George found itself down 4-2 midway through the third. Wheatcroft and Becher's goals gave the Cougars just the shot they needed to win. Following a scoreless overtime, Boyko netted his side's third goal of the shootout to win it after consecutive misses from the Winterhawks.
