Posted

Patricia Coward

Born in Edmonton, Alberta on Jan. 5th, 1927, Patricia Noreen (Coghill) Coward passed away peacefully with family by her side on Feb. 26, 2021, in the Youville Home St. Albert, at the age of 94.  Known fondly as Pat, Mrs. C and Nana, she was proud of her Irish roots that she lived through her upbringing in Edmonton. On November 5, 1949 Pat and Jack Coward were married in Edmonton and shortly after (1956) moved to a rural acreage in St. Albert, where they raised their 4 children.

Many will remember her many years of service with the St. Albert Protestant School District, volunteering with Junior Auxiliary of the Anglican Church, Commissioner with Girl Guides of Canada, or the St. Albert Senior Centre craft store.  Pat loved being involved in the community.

Pat had fun in her retired years, spending time with grandchildren, crafting, doing puzzles, volunteering, and travelling to Mexico, Ireland, Africa, Las Vegas, Hawaii and on various cruises. Having survived cancer twice and recently COVID 19, she will be remembered by her strong will, gentle sprit and the countless crocheted and knitted creations that adorn the homes of her loved ones.  From all that knew her, many will remember the warmth of Pat’s smile, especially when she was enjoying company over a cup of tea.

Pat was predeceased by her parents William and Norah Coghill, husband John (Jack) Coward, younger sister Deirdre Mawhiney, twin sister Rosemarie Primrose.  She leaves behind brother Sinclair Coghill, sister Margaret Charles, children George Coward (Dawn), Laura Hall (Tony), Patrick Coward, and Linda Russell (Robert), step-children Alice Stene (Ken) and Ann Corbett, grandchildren Aleece Mazure (Dan), Christina McHugh (Zac), Carly Wetanko (Wes), John Russell, Karyn Higgs (Greg) and Kraig Stene, great grandchildren Madison, Astrid, Lee, Wilder and Rio, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.  All Heart All the Time

Pat’s wishes are interment with her parents at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery.  A graveside celebration of life will take place this summer (TBA).

Her family wish to praise the compassionate care she received at the Youville Home and Sturgeon Community Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Youville Home, St Albert.  https://www.covenanthealth.ca/hospitals-care-centres/youville-home/
