1935-2022
Born in Pelly, Saskatchewan, in December 1935, Janet left us peacefully on January 15th, 2022, at the Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Home in Edmonton, Alberta. She was the only daughter of William and Nellie Trischuk, both deceased, and sister of Ernest (Smiths Falls, Ontario), John, and Ron (both deceased). Janet is remembered lovingly by her sisters-in-law, Gloria Ferbey, Carol, Miriam, and Clare Trischuk. She will be remembered fondly by her nephews, Mark Ferbey, William, Ken, David, and Stephen Trischuk; nieces, Christy Trischuk, Romeo, and Susan Ferbey.
Janet was a devoted and celebrated elementary school teacher, first in Ottawa, Ontario, and then in St Albert, Alberta. While in Ottawa, she co-authored a widely-used series of introductory reading textbooks. During her St. Albert years, her greatest joy was the development of her traditional Ukrainian weaving skills. She was a long-time member of the Edmonton Weavers’ Guild and summer student at the Banff School of Fine Arts. She was inspirational in her intelligence, kindness, generosity, and friendship. She will be missed.
Janet has been cremated and no formal funeral service is planned at this time.
