It is with the utmost sadness the family of Shaun Harvey announce his sudden passing on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the age of 69 years. Shaun passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family following a valiant and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Shaun was born in Edmonton on March 23, 1951 to Ronald and Joan Harvey and lived almost all of his life in St. Albert. He became a dedicated Insurance Broker who started working with his dad at Harvey Agencies & Co. Ltd. when he was twenty years of age, initially at their office in Edmonton before relocating the business to St. Albert upon the retirement of his father. He finished his successful career with AON Reed Stenhouse Inc. in Edmonton. Shaun remained committed and loyal to his clientele sharing his home telephone number with many of his personal and commercial clients. He was passionately involved with St. Albert Minor Hockey Association and was a fixture in the timekeeper’s box at his sons’ hockey games and tournaments.

Shaun’s enduring love will be forever remembered by his children: daughter Gillian (Andrew), sons Gregory (Natalia), Jeffrey (Jennifer); granddaughter Soleil, grandson Jesse; brother Tony (Angela), nephew Nathan, niece Vanessa (Mike) and grandnephew Theo. He will also be very sadly missed by his second sons Bill and James Cochrane, his best friend Karin Harvey and his beloved Cavalier spaniels George and Henry. Shaun was predeceased by his father Ronald Harvey and mother Joan Harvey.

The family of Shaun wish to acknowledge and offer our sincere gratitude and indebtedness to Dr. Gold, Dr. Atwell, the extraordinary Emergency ER team at the Sturgeon General Hospital in St. Albert, St. Albert Fire Services, Dr. Cheung, Dr. Bigam and Dr. Shapiro for their exceptional and compassionate medical care. Shaun was blessed with five and a half years living a full life following his cancer diagnosis in 2015.

Memorial donations in memory of Shaun may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada, 508-36 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto, ON, M4R 1A1 or the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620 - 163 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5V 0B2. Due to the current uncertainty of arranging a Celebration of Life in Shaun’s honour in the upcoming months, his family would welcome and treasure tributes, anecdotes and stories of Shaun’s life sent to his personal Email account at [email protected].
